Codebook-assistant chat: user describes a yes/no field. Assistant writes it with four allowed values — Yes / No / Not reported / Not applicable — and a Default if missing clause, without being asked.
Ask the assistant for a yes/no field, and it writes in the full four-value answer set — with a default for when the paper is silent — as a matter of course.
